Every Smashed Penny kit is fresh baked the week of your date. Nothing sits on a shelf, nothing arrives stale — here's exactly how a kit gets from my kitchen to your kitchen.
The cookies + the frosting
Real buttercream. Real sugar cookies.
- A recipe with history. Soft, slightly chewy sugar cookies — no grocery-store dough, no shortcuts, no preservatives.
- Fresh buttercream, not royal icing. Stays soft, tastes incredible, easy to pipe. The cookies people actually want to eat.
- Small batches only. We bake to your date so your kit is at its peak when it lands on your counter.
The Journey

Step 1
You order
Pick a kit (or design a custom one) and choose your date. We open orders a couple weeks ahead so we can bake fresh.
Step 2
We bake
Cookies come out of the oven the week of your date and fresh buttercream is whipped to match your kit.
Step 3
It arrives
Your kit is packed by hand in a kraft window box and on its way to you soon after — fresh, never sitting on a shelf.
Step 4
You decorate
Open the box, snip the piping bags, and make it yours. Tag @smashedpennytreats — we love seeing what you create.
Keeping it fresh
Up to a week in the fridge.
Pop your kit in the fridge until you're ready to decorate. Cookies and buttercream stay fresh for up to a week — when you're ready, take the frosting out of the fridge for just 5 minutes, then knead each piping bag for about 30 seconds to soften the buttercream before piping.
